I Fought Like Hell to NOT Put My Older Dog Down. Here’s What I Discovered

August 2, 2022

This is my furbaby Scar, one of two white Anatolian Shepherds rescued 3 years ago by US service members in Turkey and adopted by my family. We fell in love with him from the first time we met him. He ran over to us right away so we always say that we didn’t pick him, he picked us.

He’s estimated to be 13-14 years old. He has lots of old injuries as a result of his aging: a frozen knee, bad hips, etc. Nevertheless, Scar is a really happy guy who loves belly rubs, hugs and playing with his son, Phil. We began to experience difficulties summer of 2019 when Scar really slowed down and didn’t want to go for walks – This is where things started to take a turn for the worse.

I would try so hard to motivate him to go walking with me but all he wanted to do was lay there. This was really odd because Scar use to love walks and being outside. He would literally walk around the yard and I would take him for walks throughout the neighborhood. It got so bad that all Scar wanted to do was lay around all day, hardly ever moving. He was healthy but, we thought, in decline and perhaps approaching the end of his life. This really broke our hearts to think that we would be losing such a sweet boy. I was an emotional wreck.

Some nights we would hear Scar whimpering. We tried medication, in case he was in pain from the old injuries, but there was no improvement from these methods and he was experiencing some of the dreaded side effects.

I knew immediately that I couldn’t give up on this little guy but I didn’t know where to turn. If there was anything I could do to save him, that is exactly what I was going to do…so I decided I would fight like hell every day to figure out how I could fix him. After a lot of searching, researching and reading several reviews, I decided to start him on CBD. The improvement was evident and it all happened so fast that we knew it had to be the CBD.

Within a couple weeks Scar started improving. Family and friends would come over and notice that he was alot more active than he’d been recently. “That’s the Scar we know and love” they would say. He was soon back to his old self, walking, digging and playing with Phil, his son. These days, Scar is always ready for a walk around the neighborhood. Many days he acts like a puppy again!

Sometimes I think about how many people give up and put their dog down in these types of scenarios. I’m here to tell you DON’T give up yet. If you’re desperate to help your older dog like I was, please (down on my knees) take my advice and at least try CBD with your pup. You have NOTHING to lose, and everything to gain.

For Scar, we use the 500MG CBD Oil (he weighs 85lbs). Cannanine CBD has dramatically improved Scar’s quality of life and, we believe, extended his life. If it were not for this we probably wouldn’t have scar with us now.. We went from being lost and helpless to feeling hopeful and thankful. If you’re on the fence about CBD supplements for your aging dog, do not wait any longer. You’ll be so happy you made the move and your pet will love you for helping them. I can’t say enough good about this wonderful CBD! Thank you Cannanine!

Thanks for letting me share Scar’s story.
